Fish & Seafood Restaurants in Chelsea
1. Wild Tavern Italian restaurant in Kensington and Chelsea 2 Elystan Street - SW3
The casually luxurious DNA of Goodmans and Burger & Lobster is evident at this two-year-old venture (opened in December 2019), overlooking Chelsea Green. What is essentially a surf ’n’ turf menu with seafood and USDA steaks sold by the 100g is bolstered by Italian dishes and pasta, all served in an elegant, vaguely Alpine setting, complete with fire pit and wooden ceiling. For the most part reports are all good – “a very welcome addition” – but, on the downside, ratings are dragged down by the fact that it’s “soooo expensive”.
2. Big Easy American restaurant in Chelsea 332-334 King’s Rd - SW3
“Great lobster and huge quantities of meat” are the order of the day at this American-style crabshack and BBQ, a King’s Road, Chelsea fixture for 31 years, and its more recent offshoots in Covent Garden and Canary Wharf. With the in-house blues and rock bands, they’re ideal party venues for the whole family – “my children were vastly impressed by location, food, view – everything!”.
3. Bibendum Oyster Bar Fish & seafood restaurant in Chelsea Michelin House, 81 Fulham Road - SW3
“You can’t fault” this luxurious seafood bar in the foyer of Chelsea’s historic Michelin garage: an offshoot of Claude Bosi’s upscale restaurant upstairs. It’s a “lovely setting, with original ceramic depictions of Michelin tyre car racing victories from the 1900s”. The food – from a small menu that nowadays includes cooked dishes alongside the crustacea – is “exceptional”, although it comes at “shocking prices”.
