Pizza Restaurants in Chelsea
1. Santa Maria Pizza restaurant in Chelsea 92-94 Waterford Road - SW6
“Consistently fantastic pizza, with interesting toppings and a nicely textured base” have created a major buzz around this independent Neapolitan trio, which started out in Ealing before opening off Fulham Broadway and in Fitzrovia. It’s still the W5 original that incites most fuss – “a small cafe/bistro, it’s always crowded you can end up sitting in a rather tight, alley-like room” although in recent times they’ve also colonised the Red Lion next door so you can “set yourself down at the pub and tuck in with more space and vibe”.
2. Made in Italy Italian restaurant in Chelsea 249 King’s Rd - SW3
“Top pizzas” that “taste as good as they look” are the hallmark of this 30-year Chelsea fixture, now with branches in Wimbledon and Battersea. “I couldn’t stop myself from eating every last bit of the dough,” reports one happy fan of the pizza, which is served by the metre.
3. Rossopomodoro Pizza restaurant in Chelsea 214 Fulham Rd - SW10
“Neapolitan influences are evident in the choice of ingredients, and the wood-burning oven makes for good, chewy, charred crusts, unlike most high-street pizzas” – so say fans of this global chain, whose HQ is indeed in Naples. Not everyone is impressed, though, and ratings are dragged down by those who feel it’s merely an “everyday” choice: “OK for a bog-standard group, but not great”.
