Featured Fulham Restaurants
1. Sukho Fine Thai Cuisine Thai restaurant in Fulham 855 Fulham Rd - SW6
“Carefully prepared cuisine is served with charm and experience” at this accomplished dining room: West London’s top-scoring Thai and, oft-tipped by its fans (from as far afield as Cornwall) as “the best Thai in town”, full stop. It occupies a shop conversion deep in Fulham that’s attractive but tightly packed.
2. Koji Japanese restaurant in Fulham 58 New King’s Rd - SW6
“The Japanese food prepared in front of you is amazing, the cocktail bar is amazing…” – Pat & Mark Barnett’s “lovely Asian-fusion” haunt has unusually glam looks for somewhere near Parsons Green, and is a big local hit for a date or Big Night Out. (Older fans will remember their previous venture, Mao Tai, which they ran on the same site for over two decades).
3. Nuovi Sapori Italian restaurant in Fulham 295 New King’s Rd - SW6
“Honest food”, “delightful service” and an upbeat atmosphere again win praise for this well-established, neighbourhood trattoria, near Parsons Green; it’s good with kids too.
4. Pure Indian Cooking Indian restaurant in Fulham 67 Fulham High Street - SW6
This “real local gem” north of Putney Bridge serves “delicious and unusual Indian food” – and is “refreshingly free from the usual clichés”. Owner Shilpa Dandekar is a “great and innovative chef” – she trained at the Taj Group and worked under Raymond Blanc – and her cooking is “beautifully presented”. Only the “rather ordinary room” gets brickbats – “more prestigious surroundings required!”.
5. FENN British, Modern restaurant in Fulham 194 Wandsworth Bridge Road - SW6
Replacing the Harlequin (RIP) is this seasonal British restaurant from the team behind Hackney's NEST (we're not sure about all the capitals either), including chefs Johnnie Crowe and Joe Laker.
6. The Atlas Mediterranean restaurant in Fulham 16 Seagrave Rd - SW6
This “cracking, traditional English pub”, “tucked away in the backstreets” a short walk from West Brompton tube, has earned an enviable reputation for “interesting” Mediterranean cooking, backed up by “premium wines” and “some of London’s best real ale”, over more than two decades. “The Victorian-style cosy interior and spacious, sunny terrace makes it perfect for all occasions” – the outside is now even more of an attraction given the smart and expanded garden enabled by the new development next door.
7. Harwood Arms British, Modern restaurant in Fulham Walham Grove - SW6
“Fabulous game” is a highpoint of the “simple food, cooked to perfection” (“mouthwatering meat so tender the knife just fell through it”) at this “super-fine” hostelry in the distant backstreets of Fulham – for the second year, the survey’s No. 1 gastropub. Full credit goes to head chef Sally Abé for her “top flight” evolution of traditional dishes, but it can’t harm to have input from backers who include Brett Graham (of the currently defunct Ledbury), and also the UK’s most prominent game chef, Mike Robinson. Aside from the small amount of space dedicated purely to drinking, it feels like an honest-to-goodness, fairly unreformed boozer. Top Menu Tips – “venison scotch egg is to die for, as is the Sunday roast”.
8. The Sands End British, Modern restaurant in Fulham 135 Stephendale Road - SW6
This unobtrusive-looking gastroboozer in a Fulham backstreet came to prominence for its highly-rated grub and off-duty visits from Prince Harry, a pal of the former owner. It changed hands last year and Harry got hitched, so he’s not expected back, but marks have held up for what is still a “great local” – “not so cheap but definitely cheerful”.
9. Megan’s Delicatessen British, Modern restaurant in Fulham 571 Kings Rd - SW6
“Affordable and with a nice vibe” – these good-looking, all-day hang-outs major in brunch, but make reasonably-priced options for a relaxed meal at any time. This year, they added Kensington High Street and Islington to the stable and spread beyond inner London to Surbiton and St Albans.
10. Manuka Kitchen British, Modern restaurant in Fulham 510 Fulham Rd - SW6
“Excellent, little rustic-chic local bistro” near Fulham Broadway which is a “lovely spot to eat in at any time but weekend brunch is legendary”. The “intriguing menu” has some “delicious, ambitious dishes”, and the owner is “delightful and charming”.
