Featured Fulham Restaurants
1. Pure Indian Cooking
Indian restaurant in Fulham
67 Fulham High Street - SW6
“Focusing on the food alone, this is right up there with the best” agree fans of chef-patronne Shilpa Dandekar’s low-key Indian seven-year-old – on the trafficky segment of Fulham High Street leading up to Putney Bridge. It’s “really worth a visit” to sample her “unusual but delicious” cooking. Shilpa’s training combined Indian and European culinary traditions (Taj Group and Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons). Her husband and co-founder, Faheem Vanoo, runs the front of house.
2. Koji
Japanese restaurant in Fulham
58 New King’s Rd - SW6
“By far my favourite in South West London and beyond!” – Robert & Pat Barnett’s “very buzzy” pan-Asian in Parsons Green took over where its former incarnation Mao Tai left off as a place for a big night out for Fulhamites not wishing to schlep into the West End. “The food is always super-fresh; there’s a diverse wine list and the cocktails are as good as you’ll get anywhere… it’s always my eating place of choice even if it can be a bit heavy on the wallet…”
3. Fishers
Fish & chips restaurant in Fulham
19 Fulham High Street - SW6
“The fish is consistently very good (whether battered, grilled or steamed)” at this “perennial favourite” chippy near Putney Bridge in Fulham, which offers “takeaway and a small dine-in area with a half-dozen tables”. “The chips are not bad and the price is reasonable”.
4. Pappa Ciccia
Italian restaurant in Fulham
41 Fulham High St - SW6
2021 Review: “The best pizza in the area” – “thin, very tasty” and in “large” portions – wins fans for this “friendly” family-owned trio that has built a solid following in Fulham and Putney over two decades. SW15 is primarily take-out and delivery (but has some outside seating).
5. Sukho Fine Thai Cuisine
Thai restaurant in Fulham
855 Fulham Rd - SW6
This “high-quality” Fulham fixture serves some of the “best Thai food in West London” – attracting diners from across the capital to its modest-looking premises in a parade of shops: “We just wish it was closer to home”.
6. Pappa Ciccia
Italian restaurant in Fulham
105 Munster Rd - SW6
2021 Review: “The best pizza in the area” – “thin, very tasty” and in “large” portions – wins fans for this “friendly” family-owned trio that has built a solid following in Fulham and Putney over two decades. SW15 is primarily take-out and delivery (but has some outside seating).
7. Nuovi Sapori
Italian restaurant in Fulham
295 New King’s Rd - SW6
Near Parsons Green, this small and family-owned Italian, in an updated traditional style, delivers just what you’d want from a high-quality local restaurant: “better-than-average food is cooked to a high standard; staff are friendly; and it’s always busy”.
8. Royal China
Chinese restaurant in Fulham
805 Fulham Rd - SW6
This “always reliable” and “slightly upmarket” Cantonese group “remains the standard that all other dim sum places should be judged against – exemplary is an overused term here but is very much justified”. But a somewhat dark cloud has hung over the operation since its prominent Baker Street branch was stripped of its licence to sell alcohol and fined £360,000 after a series of Home Office raids over six years discovered multiple cases of illegal immigrants working, in one case for 66 hours a week at almost half the minimum wage. As of August 2024, the Fulham Road branch is ‘Temporarily Closed’.
9. Cocotte
Chicken restaurant in Parsons Green
271 New King's Road - SW6
“Chicken with amazing sides” is the winning formula at Romain Bourrillon’s rotisserie chain, which imports its chooks from France. “Nice brunch”, too.
10. Five Guys
Burgers, etc restaurant in Putney
46-48 Putney High Street - SW15
2021 Review: “When all you want is an old-school burger”, these US-based arrivals of recent years really “hit the spot” – you can “build your own”, with “tons of accessories”; plus “seriously addictive fries”, “thick milkshakes”, and “more soda flavours than is reasonable”. “The eat-in experience is as depressing as McDonald’s”, though, in fact perhaps more so – “some branches have a strangely gloomy ambience” – but fans feel that “if you don’t mind 1980s-rock, a trip can still be surprisingly fun”.
11. Coppa Club Putney
British, Modern restaurant in Putney
29 Brewhouse Lane - SW15
This comfortably decorated national chain feels akin to dining in a hotel, but minus the bedrooms; and its two London branches – near the Tower and in Putney – benefit from attractive Thames-side locations, where “it’s lovely to sit outside on a warm day by the river, or year-round in one of their igloo pods”. “There’s a warm fire inside with cosy armchairs”, too, which make the venues “fine for coffee or snacks”, although for more substantial meals “the food is only OK”.
