Featured Fulham Restaurants
1. Koji
Japanese restaurant in Fulham
58 New King’s Rd - SW6
“More fusion than Asian, but with clearly Eastern flavours” – the menu at this long-established pan-Asian haunt near Parsons Green is a “diverse and interesting one”. The decor is very “sophisticated for a local restaurant” and “innovative cocktails at the bar” help fuel its “wonderful ambience”.
2. Pure Indian Cooking
Indian restaurant in Fulham
67 Fulham High Street - SW6
This “underrated”, modern curry house, just north of Putney Bridge, showcases “Indian cooking on another level” – “the room may be simple but the food is complex, delicious and varied”. Chef-patron Shilpa Dandekar trained in both Eastern and Western culinary traditions, under Raymond Blanc and India’s smart Taj Group, while her husband and co-owner Faheem Vanoo runs the front of house.
3. Nuovi Sapori
Italian restaurant in Fulham
295 New King’s Rd - SW6
2021 Review: “Honest food”, “delightful service” and an upbeat atmosphere again win praise for this well-established, neighbourhood trattoria, near Parsons Green; it’s good with kids too.
4. Fishers
Fish & chips restaurant in Fulham
19 Fulham High Street - SW6
“The standard is consistently high” for “quality fresh fish” at this well-known chippu and seafood restaurant, visible to anyone stuck in the traffic trying to get over Putney Bridge.
5. Mien Tay
Vietnamese restaurant in Hammersmith and Fulham
45 Fulham High St - SW6
This family-run Vietnamese quartet has won popular acclaim for 15 years or so on Shoreditch’s ‘Pho Mile’ as well as more recently in Battersea, Fulham and Wood Green. Hardly stylish but very “good value”, they’re “often rammed” with diners attracted by the first-class pho and dishes such as goat with galangal – one of the late critic AA Gill’s all-time favourites.
6. Pappa Ciccia
Italian restaurant in Fulham
41 Fulham High St - SW6
2021 Review: “The best pizza in the area” – “thin, very tasty” and in “large” portions – wins fans for this “friendly” family-owned trio that has built a solid following in Fulham and Putney over two decades. SW15 is primarily take-out and delivery (but has some outside seating).
7. Sukho Fine Thai Cuisine
Thai restaurant in Fulham
855 Fulham Rd - SW6
“The best Thai restaurant ever” applaud the dedicated fan club of this long-established, tightly packed Thai in a Fulham shop conversion, which provides “consistently high-quality and delicious food with excellent, attentive service”.
8. Tendido Cuatro
Spanish restaurant in Fulham
108-110 New King’s Rd - SW6
2018 Review: This authentic if pricey Parsons Green tapas bar (sibling to Earl’s Court’s Cambio de Tercio) improved its scores across the board this year – fans say it’s “perfect for all occasions no matter how hungry you are!”
9. Pappa Ciccia
Italian restaurant in Fulham
105 Munster Rd - SW6
2021 Review: “The best pizza in the area” – “thin, very tasty” and in “large” portions – wins fans for this “friendly” family-owned trio that has built a solid following in Fulham and Putney over two decades. SW15 is primarily take-out and delivery (but has some outside seating).
10. Royal China
Chinese restaurant in Fulham
805 Fulham Rd - SW6
“Like Rick’s in Casablanca, everybody looking for dim sum in London comes to the Royal China” – whose well-established venues (decorated along the lines of an ’80s disco) in Baker Street, Canary Wharf, Fulham and Harrow deliver the proper Cantonese experience. They “never disappoint” (although “main dishes can be less successful”), but, “given the well-known robotic efficiency of their approach, if you want ambience, you have to bring your own”. One big loss this year, though – their most popular branch, on Queensway – has bitten the dust.
11. Rigo'
Italian restaurant in Fulham
277 New King's Rd - SW6
2018 Review: New ambitious modern Italian which opened its doors post-survey in Fulham in July 2017; chef Gonzalo Luzarraga and Francesco Ferretti are the owners – Luzarraga trained with Alain DuCasse and has cooked all over the world.
12. Cocotte
Chicken restaurant in Parsons Green
271 New King's Road - SW6
2019 Review: “If you like chicken this is your place” say fans of this affordable Gallic two-year-old, on the fringes of Notting Hill and Bayswater: “simple mission (rotisserie chicken), well delivered; chicken itself good quality, tasty and wholesome”. In April 2018, the French owners opened a new branch in Hoxton Square.
13. Ground Coffee Society
Sandwiches, cakes, etc restaurant in Putney
79 Lower Richmond Rd - SW15
2019 Review: This 10-year-old Antipodean café (with an in-house roastery) in Putney serves “better coffee than many of the more self-conscious central London coffee shops”. It’s also a “great family breakfast/ brunch destination”, and is “popular with Sunday morning cyclists”.
14. Five Guys
Burgers, etc restaurant in Putney
46-48 Putney High Street - SW15
2021 Review: “When all you want is an old-school burger”, these US-based arrivals of recent years really “hit the spot” – you can “build your own”, with “tons of accessories”; plus “seriously addictive fries”, “thick milkshakes”, and “more soda flavours than is reasonable”. “The eat-in experience is as depressing as McDonald’s”, though, in fact perhaps more so – “some branches have a strangely gloomy ambience” – but fans feel that “if you don’t mind 1980s-rock, a trip can still be surprisingly fun”.
