Harden's survey result
Summary
“Focusing on the food alone, this is right up there with the best” agree fans of chef-patronne Shilpa Dandekar’s low-key Indian seven-year-old – on the trafficky segment of Fulham High Street leading up to Putney Bridge. It’s “really worth a visit” to sample her “unusual but delicious” cooking. Shilpa’s training combined Indian and European culinary traditions (Taj Group and Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons). Her husband and co-founder, Faheem Vanoo, runs the front of house.
Summary
There’s “always something new and original to tempt you” at this understated and “very good value” contemporary Indian on Fulham High Street near Putney Bridge. Chef-owner Shilpa Dandekar (who trained with both India’s Taj Group and Raymond Blanc) “proves you can give a nod to tradition while being a little more modern, and not have to pay Mayfair prices to get it”. Husband Faheem Vanoo ensures the front of house “always provides courteous service”. Top Menu Tip – “the best black dhal”.
Summary
“A real gem”, serving “top-quality modern Indian cooking at sensible prices” on Fulham High Street near Putney Bridge. The “delicious, unusual food” comes courtesy of chef-owner Shilpa Dandekar, who trained with both India’s Taj Group and Raymond Blanc. She and her husband Faheem Vanoo, who runs the front of house, have made a good impression on locals (“it’s run by really nice people”).
Summary
This “underrated”, modern curry house, just north of Putney Bridge, showcases “Indian cooking on another level” – “the room may be simple but the food is complex, delicious and varied”. Chef-patron Shilpa Dandekar trained in both Eastern and Western culinary traditions, under Raymond Blanc and India’s smart Taj Group, while her husband and co-owner Faheem Vanoo runs the front of house.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Pure Indian Cooking Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Very fine cooking: West End flavours at Hammersmith prices, a menu with many adventurous and seductive dishes (which deliver). Service very stretched on the night we were there, but more than pleasant and the food made up for the wait."
