Marylebone Peruvian restaurant Pachamama is to close after 10 years, and will be replaced by a new Italian venture as its owner repositions the group. Fans of Pachamama’s “incredible sticky aubergine”, recommended in the new 2025 Harden’s guide, will still be able to find it at the Shoreditch branch in Great Eastern Street.
The move was announced in an Instagram post saying: “On the 31st of December we bid you farewell – but this is not goodbye. As Pachamama we unite under one flagship in Shoreditch, we’re thrilled to announced an Italian concept is set to launch in Marylebone in early spring 2025.”
Owner Rustambek Narzibekov has shifted the focus of the Pachamama Group to the Mediterranean in recent times. In 2022 he opened Greek restaurant Zephyr in Notting Hill, and this September he closed Peruvian coastal specialist Chicama in King’s Road, Chelsea, replacing it with Bottarga, said to be inspired by the Aegean. A further Greek-inspired restaurant, Effie, is scheduled to open from the group in the former Whiteley’s shopping centre in Bayswater in the spring.
