Sushisamba serves up Kobe beef

Screenshot 2014-12-08 14.59.16From today (8 December) “memorable” City spot, Sushisamba, will join the ranks of a select few London restaurants serving genuine Kobe beef. Through an exclusive contract with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan and the Kobe Beef Marketing & Distribution Promotion Association, chef Claudio Cardoso will now serve this sought after (and expensive) delicacy.

Of course, as one would imagine, the experience of eating this rarified beef at the top of the Heron Tower – with its panoramic views over London and al fresco bar – isn’t going to be cheap. The Ishiyaki service (for four people) is £1,000 and features 1kg of Kobe beef and is cooked over a hot stone at the table.

The à la carte Kobe dishes are not quite so eye-wateringly pricey and include nigiri (£24), sashimi or special nigiri with caviar and kizami wasabi or the robata-grilled ribeye (£144). More dishes will be added in January next year.
