Prolific chef Jackson Boxer launched his latest restaurant this week – Vesper in Exmouth Market, which he bills as his “tribute to London”.
The venture takes its name – and possibly its colour palette – from Venus, the evening star. It occupies the former site of Taqueria, whose Notting Hill sister restaurant Jackson helped relaunch as Taq in March this year.
He says: “In Vesper we want to build a fitting tribute to London, the greatest city in the world – naturally cosmopolitan in outlook, fiercely proud of its native produce, at ease in its own unique skin, confidently hospitable to all. Offering grown up pleasure and childlike joy; a restaurant for the city we want to live in.”
Jackson made his name with Brunswick House in Vauxhall and followed up with Orasay in Notting Hill, which he converted into Dove last year. His other projects include Henrietta Bistro in Covent Garden.
