London Shell Co launches on dry land

Floating seafood operation London Shell Co is to open its first land-based site next week – a combined fishmonger and seafood bar off Parliament Hill in Highgate.

Brother-and-sister team Leah and Harry Lobek launched the business in 2016, and now run two canal barges – the Prince Regent, which serves meals while cruising through London, and the Grand Duchess at a fixed mooring by Paddington station.

The new bricks-and-mortar venue at Sonny Heights in Swains Lane will serve lunch Tuesday-Saturday and dinner Wednesday-Saturday, with a late-afternoon oysters-and-wine deal from 4pm-6pm. The kitchen is run by Grace Bryson, formerly sous-chef at the Grand Duchess, and will offer picnic hampers to take away to nearby Hampstead Heath in the summer.

Harry and Leah grew up nearby, and said of the new project: “We love this area and we felt it could use a little restaurant like ours, so to be able to combine the two concepts is a dream come true.
