Richard Bainbridge makes London debut with 12-course menu at Kitchen Table

Richard Bainbridge, the chef behind Norwich’s “wonderful” Benedicts – “it’s unbelievable that it doesn’t have a Michelin star” – will make his London debut cooking at Fitzrovia’s “truly unique” Kitchen Table, tucked away behind Bubbledogs. Bainbridge will take to the stoves alongside Kitchen Table’s chef-patron James Knappett for one night only on Tuesday 3 April, taking diners on a journey of food nostalgia with a 12-course tasting menu.

Dishes will showcase the history, produce and flavours in which British food culture is based;  brought up to date using modern cooking techniques.  Menu highlights include: a nod to Grandma’s ‘Sundowner’, a rich and creamy sherry mousse; Prawn Cocktail topped with a sprinkle of hot pink powdered freeze dried raspberries; Pineapple on a Stick made with a parmesan mousse and scorched pineapple. Richard’s winning Great British Menu dish Nanny Bush’s Trifle will also make an appearance.  Committed to sourcing and using local produce where possible, a menu from Richard would not be complete without a plethora of homegrown Norfolk produce too.

Kitchen Table is tucked away behind a curtain at the back of Bubbledogs hot dog joint on Charlotte Street. Seated at stools around the 20-seat kitchen table creates “great intimacy with the team” and the daily changing 12-course array of dishes (“on the whole sourced from the UK, and very well explained”) are “from another world”. “It’s cosy, it’s unpretentious, it’s delicious, it’s friendly, it’s excellent value”.

There is one sitting, commencing at 7 pm. Tickets cost £140 + service charge (12.5%) per person. Drinks will be at an additional cost.  To pre-book your seat please email kitchentable@bubbledogs.co.uk or http://kitchentablelondon.co.uk/
