Vivek Singh rolls his chaat trolley into Richmond

Chef-restaurateur Vivek Singh has opened a new branch of his highly rated Cinnamon Bazaar restaurant in southwest London’s smart Richmond upon Thames. It has taken over the former Carluccio’s site, close to Richmond station and handy for the theatre.

The brightly decorated venue features Indian street-food dishes complete with a ‘chaat trolley’ (pictured). Open from 9am, it serves a breakfast of smoked haddock kedgeree or signature stuffed parathas alongside more Anglocentric fry-ups and meusli before the all-day menu kicks in.

Vivek made his name in the UK with the 2001 opening of his flagship Cinnamon Club, now a Westminster stalwart, host to much political gossip and the most-mentioned non-European restaurant in the annual Harden’s survey.

His first Cinnamon Bazaar, in Covent Garden, is awarded an impressive 5/5 for its food in our latest guide, with praise for “interesting and creative twists on classics with some wholly new creations“.

The group also includes two Cinnamon Kitchens, in the City and Battersea.
