Tapas Inspired by Spain and Lebanon
What does Dar mean? It’s Lebanese for “lounge” and Spanish for the verb “to give”.
And that’s a perfect combination with Spanish and Lebanese-inspired tapas as well as fine wines in a relaxed and convivial ambience.

5. Mezzet
Lebanese restaurant in East Molesey
43 Bridge Rd - KT8
“The best Middle Eastern for miles” – a smart operation, handy for Hampton Court Palace, that offers “bold flavours a world away from many Lebanese places”; there is “lots on offer to explore – if anything perhaps too much”, and also a newer offshoot, Mezzet Dar, a couple of doors down, that turns out Spanish and Lebanese-inspired tapas.
6. Meza Trinity Road
Lebanese restaurant in Wandsworth
34 Trinity Rd - SW17
“Lovely, reassuringly fresh Lebanese food” is the straightforward explanation for the popularity of this “good-value” Tooting café.
7. Maroush
Lebanese restaurant in Knightsbridge
II) 38 Beauchamp Pl - SW3
Covid-19 was not kind to Marouf & Houda Abouzaki’s long-established Lebanese chain, and none of its Maroush-branded branches now survive in its original Edgware Road heartland (not counting their Ranoush and Beirut Express branches which do still operate there). Of its longstanding outlets, only Maroush II – the seasoned Beauchamp Place café/restaurant a short walk from Harrods – now remains with its dated, once-glam interior; and it’s still “always consistent with the quality of the food” (although rather than the full restaurant menu, some feel “the best option is to grab a shawarma” from the sandwich selection in the café). The Abouzakis have far from given up, though, with the 2021 opening of “a very modern canteen, located in the middle of the Park Royal industrial estate”, which is well-rated by those who’ve made the trip.
8. Abd El Wahab
Lebanese restaurant in Knightsbridge
1-3 Pont Street - SW1X
2021 Review: Surprisingly little feedback on this posh Lebanese, swankily located near Belgrave Square – the London outpost of a well-known, Beirut-based chain with 18 branches in the Arab world. Such as we have suggests it’s good all-round, but doesn’t set the world on fire.
9. The Cedar Restaurant
Lebanese restaurant in Maida Vale
65 Fernhead Road - W9
2021 Review: Understated trio of “good neighbourhood Lebanese” in Hampstead, Maida Vale and St John’s Wood; “consistently tasty food” is served “in huge portions for the hungry at reasonable prices”.
10. Maroush
Lebanese restaurant in Bayswater
VI) 68 Edgware Rd - W2
11. Crocker's Folly
Lebanese restaurant in St John's Wood
23-24 Aberdeen Place - NW8
This “stunning and ornate pub” in St John’s Wood with a “high-ceilinged, intricately decorated and chandeliered” dining room is the perhaps-unlikely setting for “delicious Lebanese food from the Maroush group” (who have owned it for over a decade now). The monumental, late-Victorian Renaissance-style building was originally intended as a railway hotel for a mainline London terminus that ended up being built half a mile away (in Marylebone) – hence the ‘folly’ of the name.
12. The Cedar Restaurant
Lebanese restaurant in St John's Wood
81 Boundary Road - NW8
2021 Review: Understated trio of “good neighbourhood Lebanese” in Hampstead, Maida Vale and St John’s Wood; “consistently tasty food” is served “in huge portions for the hungry at reasonable prices”.
13. Yalla Yalla
Lebanese restaurant in Soho
1 Green's Ct - W1
2021 Review: “Cheap ’n’ cheerful” Beirut-style street-food duo that offer “a top Lebanese experience” in a hidden Soho alleyway and Fitzrovia. “The food is very good and very good value”, with some “unusual and delicious choices – try the mixed fish with za’atar and sumac”.

16. Chateau
Lebanese restaurant in Hounslow
213 Chiswick High Road - W4
“Some of the best Lebanese food around W4”, “miles away from the usual formula” can be enjoyed at this Chiswick High Road outfit with a “great owner from Beirut”. It’s “also a fab cake/dessert shop during the day”, which makes it “great for either brunch or dinner”.
17. Lebnani
Lebanese restaurant in Reigate
11 Church Street - RH2
In smart premises in the town centre, Lebanese chef Jad Youssef’s homage to Beirut soul food is “always buzzy and fun”, turning out “fantastic and flavourful” sharing plates with an accent on charcoal grills and some standout dishes including his ‘Sawda Djej’ (chicken liver in pomegranate molasses), which was voted one of ‘The Best 100 dishes in London’ by the Time Out crew.
18. Maroush Park Royal
Lebanese restaurant in Park Royal
5 McNicol Drive - NW10
Covid-19 was not kind to Marouf & Houda Abouzaki’s long-established Lebanese chain, and none of its Maroush-branded branches now survive in its original Edgware Road heartland (not counting their Ranoush and Beirut Express branches which do still operate there). 19. Maroush Express
Lebanese restaurant in Marble Arch
