El Patron coming to Putney this spring

This spring Putney will see the arrival of a tongue-in-cheek, late night Mexican bar serving over 60 different tequilas, cocktails and street food. Presided over by the moustached, poncho-clad ‘El Patron’ (the boss) character, it joins a growing number of restaurants on Upper Richmond Road (like Bibo, Hide & Seed, Kerbisher & Malt).

Set over two floors, El Patron will offer drinking and dining throughout the week with a house band on Friday evenings and resident DJs on Saturdays. The décor features reclaimed brick and brightly coloured wooden shutters, a striking skull mural (as is authentic in Mexico) and mosaic paintings.

Cocktails include: Escobar’s Secret, a concoction of Mezcal, Crème de Mure, vanilla syrup, lime, apple and ginger ale, a Jalapeno and Blood Orange Margarita and The Scorpion, a blend of AquaRiva Blanco, Stone’s ginger wine, lime, chipotle, Falernum Liqueur, ginger beer and bitters.

On the menu: all the usual suspects like burritos, tacos and quesadillas, alongside tortilla chips with salsas and guacamole.
