September 2017: Bibo in Putney has closed but a new restaurant will open on the site of later this month - watch this space.
Harden's survey result
For 25 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 60,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.
“Interesting Italian food” (for example, “spicy n’duja croquettes, rabbit ragu and Amalfi lemon doughnuts”) make this Putney sibling to Sonny’s in Barnes “a high-end and accomplished” modern Italian: “not just the usual pasta but proper cooking”.
The interior is “simple and quite stark”, but this Putney sibling to Barnes’s Sonny’s wins an all-round thumbs up for its “casual” style, “knowledgeable and professional” service, and “superb and authentic” modern Italian cooking.
From the Sonny’s stable, a Putney newcomer on the site of Wallace & Co (RIP) that “shows real promise” – “OK, the area doesn’t need another high-end Italian”, but this place is “so well conceived and run that it’s very welcome nonetheless”.
Bibo Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Live locally and when you walk by it always looks empty. Finally went with friends on a Sat night end-Dec. Food is fantastic. Authentic Italian in a modern way. And once inside, realised it was not so empty as it looks. Problem is they sit the diners in the back of the restaurant so when you walk by the front always looks empty - maybe they should consider rearranging the tables so you can see more customers? Great food and nice staff. If this place was in SoHo, place would be packed."
