Introducing Mc & Sons: A traditional Irish pub with Thai food

This autumn, well-known family owned Windmill Taverns Ltd will be expanding with the launch of their fifth site in South East London. Introducing Mc & Sons: a traditional Irish pub from the McElhinney family with an authentic Thai twist in the heart of Southwark between Blackfriars Road and Borough on Union Street.

As only a true Irish pub would have it, the focal point will be the bar, with a diverse beer & ale selection.  The interiors comprise stripped-back reclaimed furniture, wooden benches and recycled classic pub pieces, as well as a hideaway snug, historically a favoured spot of Welsh Poet Dylan Thomas.

Head chef Lailar (the wife of Johnny McElhinney), who hails from Thailand’s Northern capital Chiang Mai, will share her creative Thai flair and exceptional knowledge of where to source the lesser known spices in town to create the best tasting dishes.

Thai street food will be available for takeaway at lunch only (noon-2.30 pm) and table service at dinner (6.30-10 pm). Takeaway lunch boxes are priced at £5.50, while dine in options include: house special – marinated spicy pork salad, a selection of stir fries, noodles and curries priced from £8.50.
