Honey & Co to open new spot for ‘baking magic’

Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich, the Israeli foodie power couple behind Honey & Co, are to open a new daytime venue in Bloomsbury this September.

Honey & Co Daily, in Store Street off Tottenham Court Road, will combine a deli and takeaway with a 40-seat dining room open during the day, which will operate as a supper club on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays.

Itamar has pitched the new outlet as a tribute to his “long-suffering wife” and her stellar baking skills: “Our whole operation is powered by my wife Sarit, not least our pastry section – a fairy of sugar, fruit and flour, she conjures up incredible baked goods seemingly without moving, certainly without measuring too much, performing something not far from pure magic. This place is truly the space she deserves, a brand new kitchen dedicated to her art, plus a dining space that is so beautiful, I wish we could move in… it will make you weep.”

He added: “From the start, our baking has been our beating heart, the backbone and basenote of everything we do; from the morning bread through to the afternoon cakes and the last sweet bite after dinner, everything happens in, near or around our pastry section.”

Sarit said: “That daily structure is so natural to us, our day is shaped by our baking, and we want to bring that routine to our guests, whether it’s becoming their daily stop for coffee and a pastry in the morning, a place to grab a quick but delicious sandwich for lunch, somewhere to pop for a slice of cake and an afternoon meeting, or a regular dinner with friends.”

The couple opened their original Honey & Co in Warren Street, launching a trend for indulgent Middle Eastern comfort food. It has since transferred to a larger site in Lamb’s Conduit Street. They also run the grill restaurant Honey & Smoke and a deli, Honey & Spice.
