A spacious new Persian restaurant opens in Marylebone next week from the Pachamama group, promising a menu redolent of “smoke and saffron”. Soraya, in the new Loxton Walk development off Baker Street, is group’s second venue of the same name, following an original which opened in Abu Dhabi two years ago.
The restaurant will accommodate up to 200 guests and features two private dining rooms and a bar, along with a large open kitchen.
The opening marks a step eastwards for the group, which has launched four London venues inspired by the eastern Mediterranean in the last four years – Zephyr in Notting Hill, Bottarga in Chelsea, Nina in Marylebone and Lagana in Shoreditch. This quartet pivoted the group away from its Peruvian-inspired origins, with Pachamama, Pachamama East and Chicama all closing in the same time-frame .
The group was founded in 2014 by British-Tajik entrepreneur Iskandarbek Narzibekov (aka Ben Narzi), who made his name as a mixologist in Moscow before returning to London to set up Pachamama.
