Italian Restaurants in Brighton
1. Cin Cin Italian restaurant in Brighton 13-16 Vine St - BN1
In 2016, David Toscano turned his series of pop-ups into this tiny, 20-seater converted from a garage, and with much of the seating around the u-shaped bar. Its lack of frills and comfort makes it a turn-off to some folks, but most rate it very highly: “super for a perfect plate of pasta, and really great fresh Italian food”.
2. Donatello Italian restaurant in Brighton 1-3 Brighton Pl - BN1
A “big, bustling Italian” with a “fun atmosphere” in the Lanes, “where genuine Italian staff serve huge portions of tasty pasta and pizza” – it’s an “outstanding cheap ’n’ cheerful choice” and “the kids love it, too”.
3. Polpo Italian restaurant in Brighton 20 New Rd - BN1
A “very convivial” London-on-Sea outpost of Russell Norman’s hit Venetian bacaro (Italian small plates) spot; while it is doing better than its Bristol and Exeter siblings – both now closed – and avoids any harsh critiques, some reports speak of a “drop-off in quality” of late, or food that’s “average to good, but nothing to be delighted about”.
