Harden's survey result
“Overall just a fantastic experience” – a Lanes oyster bar, with a spinoff on the promenade (“both are very popular”), which wins numerous raves for “the most amazing seafood”, combined with “brilliant” service and a pleasingly “informal” set-up (communal tables) whereby “you might easily find yourself sharing a tall table with strangers”.
With its candlelit communal high tables, eating at this Lanes oyster bar is a “unique experience”, combining “great decor and ambience”, “brilliantly fresh fish and seafood” and “attentive staff”. (There’s nowadays a spinoff venue in the arches along the beach promenade – see also).
“Perhaps the freshest fish restaurant in Brighton” – this communal Lanes venture offers “a unique experience where you share a table” with “other random diners” (making “for fun evenings” for more than one reporter). “Food and wine are just delicious” and there’s always a “great buzz”.
“Oyster, crab and fish pie are unbeatable” at this communal fish and seafood spot in The Lanes (nowadays less well-known than its beachside offshoot). “The catch of the day is always a good choice.”
