A new boutique hotel opens in Mayfair next week called The Shepherd, with a modern all-day brasserie called Fayre.
The 82-room hotel replaces the former Park Lane Mews Hotel, in a refurbished block of townhouses above a ‘secret wartime bunker’ from the 1940s, near cute Shepherd Market.
Fayre offers a menu of classic European dishes using seasonal British produce, including starters of lobster and prawn brioche roll, braised beef short rib croquette and crispy duck confit salad, and mains of Gloucester Old Spot pork chop, beef Wellington pithivier and dry-aged steaks.
Desserts include Paris-Brest with pistachio mousseline cream and chocolate chips along with a ‘pudding in a glass” which changes every week, starting with a strawberry and Champagne trifle.
The hotel also has The Lounge and a terrace for coffee, plus a speakeasy-style cocktail bar called Teddy’s.
