Margot Henderson of Rochelle Canteen in Shoreditch is taking over a Somerset pub with rooms, The Three Horseshoes in Batcombe, which is scheduled to reopen after refurbishment in November.

The 17th-century country pub has five guest bedrooms, and will serve “heartfelt, wholesome meals that celebrate the very best produce from local farmers”.

The chef was born in New Zealand and worked at the French House in Soho with her husband, Fergus Henderson. He went on to found St John, while Margot teamed up with Melanie Arnold to launch Rochelle Canteen in the former bicycle shed of a Victorian school in 2006.

Rochelle Canteen at the ICA arts centre did not reopen after the Covid lockdown in 2020.
