Francesco Mazzei’s latest London launch

Calabrian-born chef Francesco Mazzei this week opened his latest restaurant – Mezzogiorno in the Corinthia hotel, just off Trafalgar Square.

Francesco made his name in London with L’Anima, which opened on the edge of the City in 2008. He followed up by launching Radici, Sartoria and Fiume with D&D London (now Evolv), and ran a six-month residency at the Corinthia’s stablemate Villa Corinthia in Malta two years ago.

For Mezzogiorno he has created a menu featuring dishes from across southern Italy, Sicily and Sardinia, including hand-made pasta and a ‘giant’ tiramisu.

Mezzogiorno has taken over the Corinthia’s former Northall dining room. The other dining options at the hotel are Kerridge’s Bar & Grill and The Garden serving Alpine dishes, while afternoon tea and a cocktail bar, Velvet by Salvatore Calabrese, are also available.
