New week sees the opening of a trio of statement Italian restaurants in London – two offering roof-top dining (one each to the east and west of the capital) and one that is simply BIG.
First to open on Monday (12 October) is Torino, on Paddington Square outside the station, with a bakery on the ground floor, a restaurant on the first floor, and a bar on the roof (pictured) with views across London.
Three days later (Thursday 15 October) comes Alto 19 at the top of the Locke hotel in Canary Wharf, from White Rabbit Projects, the group behind Lina Stores and Cricket, where former J Sheekey and Daphne’s head chef Chris Dargavel is presenting a “deliberately unfussy” Mediterranean menu.
And on Friday (16 October) Juno opens at west London’s revamped Olympia, claiming to be ‘Britain’s largest Italian restaurant’ with a total capacity of 500, including 265 sitting for dinner, and a classic Italian menu plus a Neapolitan pizza counter. The room has ceilings five metres high, and will offer live music at weekends.
