Sunny side up for Kenny Atkinson’s London debut

Highly rated Newcastle chef Kenny Atkinson makes his London debut next week with the opening of Solaya, a high-rise restaurant on the 25th floor of the art’otel in Hoxton.

Kenny opened the House for Tides on Newcastle’s historic Quayside 11 years ago and followed up with the more refined Solstice next door, which was immediately acclaimed in the Harden’s guide for its “fantastically inventive food”.

Solaya – another reference to the sun – will offer a French-Mediterranean-inspired menu, and be run on a day-to-day basis by head chef Nicola Losquadro, formerly of Sucre and Monica Galetti’s Mere. The restaurant boasts 360-degree views from floor-to-ceiling windows, with balconies for private dining. The main dining room seats 70, with room for another 110 guests in the lounge and bar.
