We’ve had New York-inspired ‘dogs in the form of Big Apple Hot Dogs in London for a while, now get ready to try the West Coast version as Top Dog launches in Soho’s Frith Street.

The venture is brought to us by American Marissa Hermer and restaurateur Matt Hermer (Boujis & Bumpkin) in partnership with Ewan Venters (Fortnum and Mason) as non-executive chairman.

Hailing from California these hotdogs are not the greasy, artery clogging ‘dogs you find at some stands – they are, according to the trio of founders, a ‘cleaner fast food’. There are nine sausages on the menu including: the Kimchi dog, Chicago dog, a pulled pork and apple slaw dog, and a “dog of the week”.

Served alongside are ice cream milkshakes, rapeseed-cooked skin-on loaded fries, sides of smokey baked beans, guacamole, chilli and more.
