Chutney Mary, 73 St James's Street, London, SW1A 1PH

Restaurant interior long shot 1 - Adrian FranklinMW Eat (Masala World) has relocated its Chelsea stalwart Chutney Mary to St James’s, which opens in its new home today (1 June). Masala Grill has replaced the “aristocrat of the Indian world” at its old King’s Road site following a major refurbishment.

Chutney Mary moved to St James’s Street (the former site of Marco Pierre White’s Wheeler’s) after MW Eat purchased the historic premises in November last year, which were also occupied by Prunier, the famed French fish restaurant, from 1936-1980.

According to Ranjit Mathrani, one of MW Eats directors, the restaurant group has refined and tailored the menu and interiors to suit the St James’s crowd. He says the new venue will “combine the most successful aspects of the cuisine from the existing Chutney Mary, with significant innovation in menu items, styling and presentation”.
