Pizza Restaurants in Shoreditch
1. Homeslice Pizza restaurant in Shoreditch 374-378 Old St - EC1
“Messy… but so tasty!” – the “best pizzas ever” win nothing but rave reviews for these “easygoing and fun” outlets (backed by the late Terry Wogan’s sons, Mark and Alan), which were out-scored only by the very narrowest margins by Pizza Pilgrims this year as London’s best. “If you like funky topping combos, this is the place for you”. NB: Ry Jessup, the Kiwi who originally founded the chain, moved on from the business after the survey closed in summer 2019, but we have maintained the rating.
2. Pizza East Pizza restaurant in Shoreditch 56 Shoreditch High St - E1
“Big and still with a great buzz” – these “vibey”, industrial-style haunts, owned by the Soho House group, have won an impressive following with their “inventive pizzas” (lots of them meaty), grungy-cool styling and staff who – despite a fair dose of hipster cred – maintain a welcoming attitude. Its ratings came off the boil a little this year, though, and the odd reporter feels their performance is seeming more “tired”.
3. Rossopomodoro Pizza restaurant in Shoreditch 1 Rufus St - N1
“Neapolitan influences are evident in the choice of ingredients, and the wood-burning oven makes for good, chewy, charred crusts, unlike most high-street pizzas” – so say fans of this global chain, whose HQ is indeed in Naples. Not everyone is impressed, though, and ratings are dragged down by those who feel it’s merely an “everyday” choice: “OK for a bog-standard group, but not great”.
