* Based on a three course dinner, half a bottle of wine, coffee, cover charge, service and VAT.

“Part of the new craze for ‘modern-Israeli-style’ cuisine” – self-taught chef, Limor Chen (with the help of partner Amir) provides “a different take on the ubiquitous Ottolenghi or Palomar approach” at this low-key restaurant near the Wigmore Hall – a kind of “British Middle Eastern food”, which “features lots of vegetables, like the spicy okra tempura and charred cauliflower, which are delicious (and I don’t normally go for veg’!)”. “Nice people run the place” too, which is decked out with the “on-trend, stripped-back, filament-lightbulb look”. Its “buzzing and fun” E1 spin-off inspires less feedback, but gets an equally good rep.

“Fresh Middle Eastern flavours with lots of good spice” are found on the “fairly short but tempting menu (with lots of vegetable options, but fish and meat too)” at this Marylebone venue – “a fantastic new opening” that inspires rave reviews. Its the second venture from Amir and Limor Chen who run Shoreditch’s Strut & Cluck – now re-branded ‘Delamina East’, and likewise praised (if only slightly less effusively) for its “consistently excellent and healthy” Levantine dishes.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
