Caribbean Restaurants in Southbank
1. Le Pot de Terre
Caribbean restaurant in Hornsey
34 High Street - N8
2021 Review: “A Caribbean edge” adds an “interesting twist” to the fundamentally European menu at this late-2019 yearling, which opened without fanfare in the heart of Hornsey. “The chef has little support so expect a relaxed service!”
2. Jam Delish
Caribbean restaurant in Islington
1 Tolpuddle Street - N1
“Deserving all the plaudits and great value too” – siblings Jordan & Chyna Johnson graduated from residencies and pop-ups to this bricks-and-mortar perma-home in 2022: a hard-to-define, good-times restaurant and cocktail bar in Islington, with a “super soundtrack and slightly bonkers decor”. What makes it particularly of interest is the “quirky-in-a-good-way” Caribbean cuisine that’s not only hearty for meat-free cooking – and with “an unexpected range of flavours” – but also absolutely bangin’. Add in “lovely staff” and it’s “a real find”.
3. Soul Mama
Caribbean restaurant in Islington
116 Upper Street - N1
Now scheduled to open in early 2024, musician YolanDa Brown's Islington Square venue has been bankrolled by a £250,000 crowdfunding drive. It will showcase live jazz, soul, reggae and gospel music, with a menu inspired by recipes handed down through generations of mothers across the Caribbean, Africa and South America.
