An “unassuming-looking” age-old trattoria near Waterloo station capable of some “quality, traditional Italian” cooking; even fans advise care when ordering however – “order a pasta and a glass of decent vino and you can escape with a modest bill”, otherwise it can be “ridiculously expensive”.
“In the gastronomic desert of Waterloo”, it’s worth knowing of this “definitely old-style, but popular” Italian “time-warp”; its prices are a little “through the roof”, but “you end up getting drawn back” by its “tasty” cooking and “excellent” service.
La Barca Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Very popular pre-theatre for Old Vic"
"A lovely little Italian right by Waterloo. The food was of a high quality but the place is not cheap and that restricts the rating slightly. The restaurant had a lovely vibe and an authentic feel. It was busy but the staff kept on top of things throughout and the wine list was extensive and good. At a cost of £10 per head lower La Barca would score 4-5 across the board, it's just priced slightly too high for what it is, a traditional style Italian serving hearty Italian 'home-cooked' food. Definitely worth a visit"
