“Thank goodness for the view” – the “saving grace” at this riverside grill in the South Bank arts centre, sibling to its D&D London stablemate next door. For most reporters, the food is little better than “average” – “not so much dialling as texting it in these days. Such a shame as the space is so wonderful!”.
Like its more expensive adjacent sibling, this D&D London venue should be “the perfect venue to take visitors to London”, given its amazing views. But even more enthusiastic reports concede that “it doesn’t justify the price tag” however, and too often it serves food that’s “very poor for the price”.
“The best view in London”, overlooking the Thames from the “iconic Royal Festival Hall”, could make this huge D&D London venue the perfect place “to impress”. But while most reviews are more positive than at the adjacent restaurant, a few are similarly downbeat: “left feeling hungry and a little cheated price-wise”.
“Location, location and location” – including the “wonderful” Thames view – are all that “redeems” the cheaper option at the D&D London’s massive South Bank complex, where service is “indifferent” and the “flair-free food offers much but delivers little”.
Skylon Grill Restaurant Diner Reviews
"This is a great looking venue with its enviable location overlooking the Thames. Service is always polite and relatively quick although at times it is difficult to attract attention when needed. Food is good if not exceptional but when attending a concert at the Festival Hall this is the only place to eat for convenience and quality."
"We were not impressed. Thank goodness for the view. The staff seemed to be on commission as they filled our water and wine glasses at top rate speed yet the food came very slowly. They had to be asked to go slower. 2.5 hours for our meal. The food was average. One of us is a vegetarian and the special menu found online was not available. So one main course available unless you had the starter as a main course, so 4 eggs on 2 toast with mashed avocado. mmm not good. My crab starter was lovely but my rib eye was hard to cut with the steak knife. The pudding was millionaire shortbread and it was not. It was a a chocolate roll filled with mousse. No caramel, no shortbread. Not nice. Very disappointing 60th special meal. Good job company and view were special!"
"The food has improved and it is still a great view"
