2. Santa Maria
Pizza restaurant in Fitzrovia
160 New Cavendish St - W1W
“Glorious-tasting authentic Neapolitan pizza”, “with interesting toppings that are quite unique”, is the USP of this Ealing-based operation launched in 2010 by Naples-born duo Angelo and Pasquale, which has grown in recent years into a small group with outlets as far away as Islington and Fitzrovia. Their “aim is to transport you to Naples, and the pizzas live up to the ambition”.
3. Pizzeria Mozza
Pizza restaurant in Fitzrovia
Treehouse Hotel, 14-15 Langham Place - W1B
“Miss it and miss out!” – the first UK venture from legendary LA baker-chef Nancy Silverton (founder of La Brea Bakery and a James Beard Award winner) is “this pizza joint, tucked away in a hotel opposite Broadcasting House”. It’s “just the best”, with “fab sourdough crust and great toppings” – altogether “very special!”
4. Pizza Pilgrims
Pizza restaurant in Soho
11-12 Dean St - W1
“The best whistle-stop pizza in London” for its army of fans – the Elliot brothers’ successful chain continues to grow, with their latest opening in Queen’s Park in June 2023. But even if “you can’t knock the food” or the “realistic prices”, the rest of the experience is somewhere between “pleasant” and “a bit underwhelming”.
