German Restaurants in Birmingham
1. Peel's
British, Modern restaurant in Hampton-in-Arden
Hampton Manor, Shadowbrook Lane - B92
Too limited feedback this year for a rating of this flagship dining room, whose many accolades have established it as a bastion of the Midlands hospitality scene. The property is currently emerging from major investment under long-term owners, the Hills, who have recently added ‘Smoke’ and ‘Grace & Savour’ – see also. BREAKING NEWS: In November 2022, it was announced that Peels will close in favour of a ‘comfort food’ formula.
2. Albert's Schloss
German restaurant in Birmingham
1 Chamberlain Square - B3
Sibling to the well-known Manchester original – this Bavarian beer hall landed in Brum in December 2021. It didn’t inspire any feedback in our annual diners’ poll, but in an early review the BirminghamLive website declared that – on the strength of not one but four visits – it is “the best thing to happen to Birmingham in a very, very long time. If the owners could bottle the atmosphere of this venue and sell it, they would be millionaires thousands of times over”, apparently.
