Father’s Day guide: Where to go and what to eat to celebrate

Father’s Day isn’t far off. Are you prepared? June 17 is coming, and we know you’ll want to celebrate at a top restaurant, enjoying a good feed.

Fortunately, we’re in the know and have a selection of great options. Don’t worry, the hospitality industry isn’t short of oysters, champagne and other frivolities this year.

Here are some Father’s Day dining ideas for 2018:

Lickfold Inn

The Lickfold Inn is offering a special Father’s Day Sunday Lunch menu. Dishes include foie gras and chicken terrine, and pork belly, burnt apple and crackling. Two courses for £36 or three for £42. Harden’s: four stars.

Bentley’s

For anyone planning to treat a seafood loving dad, Oyster Masterclasses at at Richard Corrigan’s Bentley’s are a must. Guests learn to shuck like a professional as well as taste the best of British and Irish oysters with a glass of Champagne. Priced at £65, the next classes will be held at 10.30am on 23rd June, 14th, 28th July, 11th, 18th August.

Bentley’s Grill

Alternatively, those dining at Bentley’s Grill on Father’s Day will enjoy a four course lunch (£45pp) of oysters, smoked wild sea trout and Wellington of Irish Hereford beef followed by Irish apple tart – not forgetting the Dads, all of whom will receive a complimentary Guinness.

Enoteca Turi

The restaurant is opening for Sunday lunch, and has a three-course menu for £42.50. Dishes include spaghetti chitarra with rabbit ragout, and John Dory with spring vegetable. Guests get a white peach bellini too.

Searcys

A three-course dinner and flight of three beers will be on offer at Searcys restaurants. You’ll find English cured meats and Dorset crab to start, roast sirloin of Longhorn beef with potato fondant as a choice of main, and a zingy lemon tart with fresh raspberries to finish. Beers include London’s Meantime, Yakima Red, and a chocolate porter. £55 per person.

The Swan

At The Swan, nestled in the clutches of Shakespeare’s Globe, you’ll find a special Father’s Day breakfast including Legbar eggs, Cumberland sausages and Lake District streaky bacon; for those with a sweet tooth, buttermilk pancakes, pastries, and homemade preserves. Later, a ‘gentleman’s’ afternoon tea features, included potted salmon, Scotch eggs, beef sliders and a selection of wines and craft beers. £24.50 per person.

Theo Randall at the InterContinental

Theo Randall at the InterContinental is hosting a Father’s Day Italian brunch. The ‘La Dolce Vita’ menu includes dishes such as octopus with potatoes, olives, parsley and capers, and baked courgette souffle with spinach, cream and parmesan. Customers have two hours in the restaurant with unlimited beer! £57 per person. Food score of three in Harden’s.

Lympstone Manor

Lympstone Manor in rustic, rural Devon and now under the revered stewardship of celebrated chef Michael Caines is also putting on a Father’s Day affair. Guests can choose between a special two or three-course menu, including dishes such as Lyme Bay Mackerel with gooseberry relish and English mustard mayonnaise, Darts Farm Lamb leg, potato fondant, smoked aubergine purée and grelot onions and Butter poached Brill with Lyme baby cockles, clams and mussels in a basil butter sauce. The restaurant has a five-star rating in Harden’s.

Marcus, at The Berkeley 

 ‘Beef and Bordeaux’ themed Father’s Day
This is the first ever Father’s Day they have opened at Marcus so they are promising to make it particularly special. Guests will be able to choose from either a five, seven or eight course menu with prime cuts of beef and paired wines from Bordeaux at the heart of each menu.

Benares

Atul Kochhar’s Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Mayfair is treating every grandad, dad, and even fathers-to-be this Father’s Day. The man in your life can indulge in two of their favourite things – Indian food and whisky.

In addition to their evening service, Benares will also be opening its doors especially for lunch, meaning that families will be able to celebrate throughout the day, with multiple menus to choose from.

Bar Manager, Stefano Marchetto, has created an incredible whisky cocktail, featuring Chivas18 with a lemon, cardamom & star anise sherbet, available only on 17th June.

Bocconcino

The stylish Mayfair Italian ristorante-pizzeria is offering dads a free Peroni per booking on Father’s Day.
