Petrossian brings its caviar to South Ken

The century-old Paris caviar house Petrossian is to open its first London deli and restaurant in South Kensington in November. The business prepared the way for its UK expansion by opening a processing laboratory in Chessington last year.

Armenian brothers Melkoum and Mouchegh Petrossian founded the business in Paris in 1920, and prospered through their business contacts with the emerging Soviet Union. The business was said to control up to a fifth of the world caviar trade in 2017; still owned by the family, it has diversified into smoked fish and other luxury edibles, with branches in Brussels and the United States.

The London branch will be at 6 Fulham Road and will serve Petrossian specialities including croque caviar, foie gras, smoked fish platters and king crab salad.
