At £72 a head (by our estimation), the Petersham Nurseries Café is far from being your average ‘cup-of-tea-and-a-scone’ venue, as found in most garden centres. For its 10th anniversary, however, proprietors the Boglione family are to open up its grounds, and the lawn of its adjoining country house hotel, for free.
The garden party on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June, hosted by Lara Boglione, will feature live music and competitions as well as guides to growing flowers and some hands-on gardening.
In the evening on 7 June things at the Nurseries return to a more normal state, with a £175/head dinner with cocktails and canapés, followed by dancing in the ballroom of the great house.
Two supper clubs will be held at the café in the run-up to the main celebrations on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 June at £75/head. For reservations, call 020 8940 5230.
