Searcys reopens The Gherkin restaurant – on a higher floor and with afternoon tea

Searcys has announceed the re-opening of The Gherkin restaurant, Helix, on September 21.

To mark the occasion, Searcys will be bringing “all-day, sky-high dining” back to the City, with new menus, plenty of Lanson Champagne thanks to a new partnership with the brand, and the launch of its first afternoon tea.

The all-day menu at Helix will now be served at the very top of the building, on level 40 (as well as level 39) marking the expansion of the restaurant over two floors.

Searcys said the food will pay homage to the bustling and iconic food markets across the capital, with dishes inspired by the likes of Billingsgate and Borough Market.

Dishes will include roast pumpkin velouté served with caraway toast, apple and almond; miso cod loin with roast cauliflower, verjuice and grapes; and white chocolate cremeux, passionfruit, baked chocolate and mint. It will be £28 for 2 courses and £35 for 3.

Searcys executive chef Darren Deadman has designed the afternoon tea, meanwhile. The menu includes finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, alongside sweet treats of passionfruit mousse, Black Forest gateaux, and lemon macaroons.
