Nico Simeone announces fish and chip-themed menu for London launch

The Scottish-Italian chef Nico Simeone has announced the menu for his highly anticipated London restaurant launch.

Nico, who has conquered Scotland and the North West, has long been rumoured to be arriving the capital, and now he finally is.

Six By Nico, which opens in Fitzrovia at the end of the month, will follow the same format as his other ventures, encompassing a six-course tasting menu, which changes every six weeks.

The chef will open in London with “The Chippie”, with food inspired by his grandparents’ Glasgow chip shop, the Standard first reported.

The £35 menu will include dishes such as Scrabster monkfish cheek with a wild garlic emulsion, gribiche, and peas in a beurre blanc sauce, and his take on a steak pie, where beef shin is shredded and served with burnt onion ketchup, a mushroom duxelle, and a “meaty salsa”.

There will also be potato croquettes in vinegar powder, cod with a beer emulsion, and an upmarket version of a deep-fried Mars bar. The entire menu can be paired with wine for £33.

“Most people are familiar with the tastes and scents of their local chip shop and we wanted to take the idea of the everyday chippie menu and reinvent it to create a playful food experience that guests would recognise and be amazed by,” he said.

Six By Nico will open on March 31.
