Crowd-funded pizza place opens in the City

To celebrate the launch of its first restaurant, crowd-funded takeaway concept Pizza Rossa will give away 300 free pizza slices this Friday (6 June). Its signature ‘al taglio’ (square) pizzas will be served from the company’s new home in Leadenhall Market in the City.

The pizza place plans to open two more sites in the City, one at the beginning of July and the other in September, thanks to its success in crowd-funding over £440,000 in just 17 days.

A member of the Sustainable Restaurant association (SRA), Pizza Rossa also seems to be a savvy negotiator of social media, instigating a #BeSquare social networking campaign where fans and followers were asked to submit photos of their ‘favourite square item’ in return for prizes. Their #LoveSquarePizza poster campaign invites pizza-lovers to come to the launch on 6 June to be in with a chance of winning a £50 Pizza Rossa voucher.
