Greek Restaurants in Fitzrovia
1. Meraki
Greek restaurant in Fitzrovia
80-82 Gt Titchfield St - W1W
London… Mykonos… er, Riyadh… – that’s the lineup for this small international group of luxe Greek restaurants owned by Peter Waney (who, with brother Arjun, has created hits such as Zuma and Roka). It flies slightly under the radar compared with its more famous stablemates, but shares the same virtues: the vibe is buoyant and the food (a Greek-inflected mix of the raw seafood, fish, grills and pasta popular with globetrotting types) “is great… so fresh!”
2. Ampéli
Greek restaurant in Fitzrovia
18 Charlotte Street - W1T
Opened a matter of weeks before Covid struck in 2020, photographer Jenny Pagoni’s debut restaurant on Fitzrovia’s foodie Charlotte Street was inspired by contemporary Athenian wine bars, and has a “very interesting all-Greek list” emphasising indigenous grape varieties, accompanied by a menu of eastern Mediterranean dishes.
3. 1905
Greek restaurant in
40 Mortimer Street - W1W
This “interesting new Cretan” (named after Crete’s 1905 revolution) in Fitzrovia claims to be the first Cretan restaurant anywhere outside Greece, and presents the island’s distinctive version of eastern Mediterranean cuisine, along with natural wines from some of the world’s oldest wine-producing regions.
