Butcher’s Hook comes to The Thatched House

Fulham’s popular pre-footie gastropub, The Butcher’s Hook (pictured), is expanding its horizons with the launch of a second site in Hammersmith next month. Owner Gus Evans will open his latest venture on 11 August, in the former Ravenscourt Park premises of that cute little boozer The Thatched House (RIP).

In the kitchen is John Stanyer, formerly of Daphne’s, Launceston Place and The Albion. The menu includes the usual gastropub fare of ham hock terrine, rib-eye steak and Bakewell tart, but there are also a few lighter touches like squid with blood orange salad and crispy kale.

Small plates are on the agenda too (Welsh rarebit, potted shrimp and Croque Monsieur), as well as a dedicated kids’ menus and weekend brunches. Like the Stamford Bridge original, expect an interesting wine list with plenty of vino by the glass.
