Pennethorne’s Cafe Bar, which joined Skye Gyngell’s Spring at Somerset House late last year, has just launched a stylish new private dining room. Named after Sir James Pennethorne (the architect who designed the New Wing of The Strand’s iconic landmark) the cafe is an all-day dining spot and now an events space too.

The Drawing Room accommodates private groups of up to 30 people with bespoke menus available (priced £26.50 and £30 per person). Choose from a range of Pennethorne’s dishes, including freshly baked breaded canapés, potted meats, salad bowls and desserts, as well as house wines or prosecco.

In keeping with the modernisation of this wing of Somerset House (previously closed to the public) the new private dining room mixes classic 19th century features with contemporary lighting, antiqued bronze mirrors and single and double ‘love seats’ by Ercol.
