Tiger leaps from Brum to Brighton

Birmingham’s popular Taiwanese-inspired restaurant Tiger Bites Pig has opened a branch in Brighton following a successful expansion into larger premises in Brum last year.

The new venue is in the home city of co-founder Harry Roper, Brighton-born and and bred, who linked up with his partners in the Imposter Group – Ed Shawcross and Max Williams – while studying in Birmingham.

Tiger Bites Pig takes its name from a Taiwanese description of stuffed bao buns. The restaurant also serves rice bowls which take their culinary cues from Sichuan.

Launched in 2018 in tiny premises near Birmingham’s New Street station, it moved last autumn to a larger site 10 minutes’ walk away, near Snow Hill station. The new branch is in Gloucester Street, in Brighton’s North Laine area.
