Endo pops up in Annabel’s following Rotunda fire

Sushi master Endo Kazutoshi is reviving his superlative restaurant Endo at the Rotunda for a five-month residency at Annabel’s in Mayfair starting on 20 February, following the fire that destroyed its perch at the top of the former BBC White City TV studios last September.

With just 10 guests at each of two sittings on Tuesday-Friday evenings, the first two months’ reservations in the pop-up sold out within 24 hours of their release this week. Diners are invited to join a waiting list for cancellations in February and March, with reservations for the months that follow to be announced in due course.

Endo at the Rotunda was the UK’s top-rated restaurant in last year’s Harden’s guide, with diners “blown away” by 20-course meals in which “every dish is an experience and the theatre of presentation is a delight”. World-famous Annabel’s, on Berkeley Square, is a members’ club but non-members will be able to book for the Endo residency.

Announcing the pop-up on social media, Endo thanked his followers for the support he and his team had received following the shock of the fire, saying it had given them the strength to look forward.

“While its official name is Endo, Upstairs at Annabel’s, I have chose to refer to this moment as Untitled. There are feelings here that cannot be easily put into words – gratitude to our guests, the desire to see you again and melancholy and longing for the time we lost.

“Reuniting with the Rotunda team in a temporary home, I am deeply grateful and very much looking forward to having a place where I can once again serve you the sushi that represents the essence of my work.”

Endo has vowed to rebuild Endo at the Rotunda, but has yet to announce a timetable for the relaunch.
