The Evolv group unveiled its latest take on the London chop house this week in the shape of a new tavern designed for the City, featuring classic British comfort food and “proper pints” at £5.
The Liverpool Street Chop House & Tavern has taken over the former site of the New Street Grill, which was operated by D&D London, now renamed Evolv.
The new tavern promises “reimagined” British heritage recipes such as roast chicken pie to share, lamb Barnsley chop with anchovy dressing, pig’s head, “pea soope” from a 1668 recipe, and old school puddings such as a huge trifle designed to feed eight. There is also a range of steaks with a choice of six handcrafted steak knives from Blenheim Forge to tackle them.
The group’s Paternoster and Butler’s Wharf chop houses are expected to he tweaked to follow a similar path.
