London Kentish Town Restaurant Guide

The “exquisite kebabs” at this family-run Turk in Kentish Town (which takes its name from the original Victorian sign above the door) have “set the standard in north London for years”. Don’t be put off by the “limited menu and basic amenities (more like a local chippy)” – the food is “fresh, good quality and delicious”, while “service is cheerful”.

“Like a French tapas bar”, this Tufnell Park showcase celebrates the wines (700) and beers (75) of the French-speaking world, with themed dinners highlighting produce from 12 regions in rotation. “As the name suggests, food is secondary – decent, but basically an accompaniment to the outstanding selection of reasonably priced wines”.

2019 Review: Beneath Kentish Town station, this well-established and cosy neighbourhood café “recently went all-vegan” and the change has been a hit – “it still produces great coffee” and light dishes that are “always delicious”. “It just needs more space!”

“Behind an unprepossessing facade, on an equally unprepossessing part of not-quite-Camden, not-quite-Kentish Town, lie gastronomic delights from Italy” conjured up in a tiny kitchen by Moroccan-Italian Mustapha Mouflih, a chef who “combines high-quality ingredients with imagination”. “Even if the ambience is somewhat chaotic and basic, at best, the cooking is wonderful” (“the ravioli, malfatti, tortellini and so on are of a freshness and stuffed with flavours you would otherwise have to get on a plane to find”).

Former Brat chefs Ben Allen and Ed Jennings opened this "culinary-led pub" (FKA gastropub) in March 2023, serving “locally sourced, seasonal dishes” cooked over flames.
