“It is simple and basic”, but this family-run Turkish fixture in Kentish Town (named for the original Victorian sign on its building) is renowned locally for “utterly delicious and authentic” kebabs. “Well worth a visit, even after so many years”“it is what cheap and cheerful is all about”.

“Succulent-tasting kebabs” at this “great value”, family-run Turkish joint (which adopted its name from the original Victorian signage) were “recommended by Giles Coren” some years ago – and our reporters have consistently backed his judgement: “their success is deserved”.

“Top kebabs” at “bargain” prices win acclaim for this small Turkish café/takeaway in Kentish Town, named for signage uncovered during its renovation (and originally brought to attention by Giles Coren over five years ago).

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Limited menu, basic amenities more like a local chippy, but what we had was fresh, good quality and tasted nice. The service was cheerful. The bill for 2 including a bottle of wine, a beer and tip was about £45.00. "
