“Continuing its reign as the best Turkish restaurant in Crouch End, Hornsey and Harringay, beating all opposition in nearby Green Lanes”: the “fantastic food” comes with “unlimited, sumac-spiced breads and delicious salads”. It “even looks a bit more stylish” since the installation of wall hangings and better lighting.
“Seriously tasty Turkish cuisine” – “a real cut above” and “very well priced” – wins high ratings for this popular Crouch End fixture. “The welcome is warm, service is efficient, and the decor is typically Turkish (murals and slightly glitzy floor tiles)”.
Sumak Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Sumak is by far and away the best Turkish restaurant in the area extending from Crouch End, through Hornsey to Harringay Green Lanes, where the preponderance of actually Kurdish-owned restaurants are located in North London. The welcome is always warm and friendly, as is the service, so that staff make local regulars such as my partner and I feel extremely welcome and at home over our delicious dishes and free post-prandial Turkish tea. The menu features a wide range of mainly meat options for the main course, but also features fish dishes and a wide range of vegetarian options particularly for starters / as a meze. The amateurish murals of famous tourist attractions around the world might be typical of Turkish restaurants in North London, but aren’t in the least stylish - at least their presence is now leavened by prettier rugs hanging on the walls and some actually quite stylish lighting and crockery. Still, one doesn’t go to Sumak for the interior decor, but for the delicious food and friendly service…. Booking is recommended for Friday and Saturday evenings, which get really busy."
