Featured Broadway Restaurants
1. The Lygon Arms British, Modern restaurant in Broadway High St - WR12
It’s “always a delight to eat in the beautiful dining room” of this famous Cotswolds institution, a Tudor coaching inn where both Charles I and Oliver Cromwell stayed during the Civil War. Now in the same stable as Cliveden and Chewton Glen, its owners clearly plan to rebuild its place on the map as a luxury country hotel (after some years in the wilderness after it was sold out of the Savoy Group). Historically this barrel-vaulted chamber has attracted celeb chefs such as Gary Rhodes back in the day: now the style is ‘Bar & Grill’ – results seem “fine but nothing outstanding”.
2. Russell's of Broadway British, Modern restaurant in Broadway 20 High Street - WR12
In British furniture designer Gordon Russell’s old workshop, this modern British venture is a “well loved local” offering “great-quality ingredients” to “generally good” effect. The owner also runs the adjoining chippie: “top fish ’n’ chips with gluten free option”.
