February 2020: After nearly 30 years in the business, the Mabeys - long-term stalwarts of the Aldeburgh dining scene - are retiring; Regatta will close on February 15th. RIP.
Harden's survey result
“Been there for years” and “always reliable” – a “cheery” sea-view restaurant where “the fish is always fresh and beautifully cooked”; “when in Aldeburgh go there!”
“Properly cooked fresh fish” – “high-quality, well presented, unpretentious and affordable” – means this popular stalwart comes “highly recommended”. It’s in a “lovely position with tables overlooking the sea”, but it “can get noisy”.
“A very popular and trusted old fish stalwart”, where “the catch is always fresh daily, and comes directly from the fisherman based within 500 yards of the restaurant”. On the downside “the space is a bit rectangular” and it can get “noisy”, but the cooking’s “consistently good” (and staff are family friendly too).
“A longstanding, friendly, attractive spot” which is “a good place for reasonably priced fish”.
