Bluebird to the City in D&D evolution

Landmark Chelsea restaurant Bluebird is to park a spinoff in the City under plans revealed this week by D&D London – which will itself be rebranded as The Evolv Collection (no misprint).

The restaurant was launched in 1997 by the late Sir Terence Conran, taking over a spectacular Art Deco car showroom dating from the 1920s on a prominent stretch of the King’s Road.

D&D board director Simon Wilkinson said: “We will launch Bluebird in the City, which replaces the restaurant 3SP at South Place Hotel, home of the Michelin-starred Angler restaurant. Bluebird City will be a sister concept to the iconic Bluebird Chelsea, re-enforcing Bluebird as a truly British/London brand, thriving on both sides of our capital city.”

D&D London announced the changes as it heads into the second year of its ownership by Breal Capital and Calveton in April, with “accelerating the pace of change/implementation” high on the agenda. A spokesman for the company, which operates about 35 restaurants across the UK and internationally, said: “It is an appropriate time for the company to evolve into its new corporate identity. From our early roots as part of Sir Terence Conran’s pioneering restaurant empire, via D&D London, and now into The Evolv Collection, our new name reflects our commitment to a forward thinking mindset for our collection of iconic venues. We constantly strive to evolve and innovate our guest experiences, our products and our environments.”
